Part of a former restaurant will be turned into a Costa Coffee, after plans were approved. Proposals for part of the former Frankie and Benny’s, at Dove fields Retail Park, in Town Meadows Way, Uttoxeter, to be turned into a Greggs bakery, were approved last year.
The new Uttoxeter Costa will be the third in the town. There are currently ones in High Street and at the Tesco store.
The Restaurant Group, which owned the Frankie and Benny’s chain, said at the time it had been on the “sharp end of the Covid-19 pandemic”, and would be cutting down on the money spent on rent as it entered a company voluntary arrangement with landlords.
It was reported that the closures of 125 sites would result in the loss of 3,000 jobs. Prior to lockdown there were 236 Frankie and Benny’s around the UK.
