A former Derby hotel could be turned into supported living accommodation for people with mental health illnesses.

A developer wants to renovate the former Hill House Hotel, at 294 Burton Road in Normanton, into a 10-bedroom complex.

It would be used as a place for people with severe and enduring mental health illnesses to live as independently as possible before moving back into the community.

In a planning statement submitted by AK Innovative Design Solutions on behalf of the applicant, St Chads Road Supporting Housing, it states the plans would fulfil a need in the city for accommodation like this.

It said: “There is currently a huge need for more supported accommodations in Derby, especially those that specialise in housing residents suffering from mental health conditions.

The first floor would have six bedrooms, two of which would have en-suite shower rooms, two other bathrooms and an office.

The second floor would have two bedrooms, both of which would have en-suite shower rooms, and roof space.
