The colourful building used to be occupied by Derby City Furniture Company, a family run shop that closed in 2020. The applicant behind the plans is Saqib Mahfooz – a businessman from Derby “who has contributed within the food industry”.

The proposed opening hours for the new restaurant include – Sunday to Thursday 5pm to 2am and Friday to Saturday 5pm until 3am. The statement adds the restaurant will not serve alcohol and will have “no impact” on anti-social behaviour.
